One Brick At a Time

George Washington had a favorite saying: “Many mickles make a muckle.”

It’s an old Scottish proverb that means small things add up to something great. A little bit each day compounds into something powerful over time.

While it might sound like a quaint saying from the past, it’s a foundational truth that lives at the core of Major League Mindset. In fact, it's the exact mentality we teach every athlete, coach, executive, and team we work with.

Greatness isn’t built in big leaps. It’s built one small action at a time. Brick by brick by brick.

What You Do Daily Is Who You Become

The Stoics believed that excellence comes not from one moment, but from the daily decisions we make over time. They emphasized things like discipline, humility, focus, and inner strength, not as abstract ideas, but as practices.

That’s what we believe too.

At MLM, we teach that your edge comes from stacking days. Your confidence comes from repetition. Your performance comes from preparation.

It’s about how you speak to yourself. What your routine looks like. How you breathe under pressure. How you reset after failure. These aren’t flashy things. But they are the foundation of everything.

The Boring Stuff Is the Building Block

In a world chasing speed and attention, the real pros know that success hides in the slow lane.

It’s in the extra rep. The early wake-up. The breath before the pitch. The journal entry after a tough loss. The five-minute mindset check before practice. The reset routine after a bad call.

None of these things look special on their own. But practiced over time? They become a true advantage.

This is why we live by mantras like: Control the Controllables. Day 1, Pitch 1. Bring It On.

Not because they sound good, but because they keep us grounded in what actually works.

The Muckle Is Built in the Mickles

The habits. The preparation. The intentional decisions. The repetition. The response. The recovery.

One by one. Day by day. These are your mickles.

And if you stay the course, if you commit to the process, if you keep showing up with clarity and intent, then the muckle, the great thing you’re chasing, takes care of itself.

That’s the MLM way. You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to do it all at once. You just need to stack the day in front of you.

Let the small things carry you to the big things.

Let the mickles make the muckle.

In your corner,

-Brandon
